Day 3--Trying to stay cool

It was 97 degrees yesterday, so we tried to stay inside as much as possible.  We got a metro/tram pass and explored underground Vienna.

We also took a tour of the opera house.  Quite amazing!

We saw the 4 huge stages and all the glitz and glam.  There were tapestries of different Opera's on the wall.  Here's Papageno from The Magic Flute.  Also a portrait of Gustav Mahler, who was the director of the opera for many years.

In the afternoon we visited Belvedere--one of the very, very, many palaces in this town.  They have a huge collection of Klimt paintings.

The palace, was stunning.

We ate at a trendy bistro--great food and people watching.  Glacis Beisl.

  1. Love Klimt, especially "The Kiss"! Warm weather is good for al fresco dining, yes?
